Skin Cancer Awareness Month - Screening
In recognition of Skin Cancer Awareness Month, the Ridgefield Health Department will be providing its annual skin cancer screening on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 from 9:00AM to 12:00PM at the Health Department located at 725 Slocum Ave, Ridgefield, NJ 07657. Call 201-943-6062 for an appointment; walk-ins welcomed Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States according to the American Cancer Society and it is estimated that one person dies from melanoma — the deadliest form of skin cancer — every hour. The American Academy of Dermatology encourages everyone to make sure their skin is “Looking Good in 2025” by protecting it from the sun’s ultraviolet rays and checking it for signs of skin cancer. The latest statistics highlight the importance of early detection and diagnosis through screenings as skin cancer is highly curable when caught early. Residents wishing to take part in the screening can make an appointment by calling the Health Department at 201-943-6062; however, walk-ins are welcomed. As the summer is fast approaching, the Health Officer and the members of the Board of Health urge all Ridgefield residents to take charge of their health and participate in this extremely worthwhile preventative screening program.
