Reporting Crimes

If there is a crime in progress or a life-threatening emergency, call 911 immediately.

The following incidents may be reported in person at Ridgefield Police Headquarters:

• Identity theft
• Theft or bicycle theft
• Harassment (excluding domestic violence, weapon threats, or bomb threats)
• Criminal mischief
• Lost property (excluding firearms or weapons)
• Follow-up reports
• Insurance reports
• Fraud, embezzlement, or bad checks
• Credit card theft
• Shoplifting (suspect unknown, no vehicle information)
• Simple assault (victim knows offender; excludes domestic violence)

Traffic accident reports may be picked up at the Police Records Bureau, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.

Fee: $1.00 per page

Requests made by mail require a check or money order for $5.50 payable to the Ridgefield Police Department.

Accident reports are typically 1–3 pages depending on severity. Some restrictions may apply to police incident reports.
