Smoke Detector Program
Ridgefield Fire Prevention Bureau
The Ridgefield Fire Prevention Bureau offers a Smoke Detector Program to assist
residents with maintaining working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in their homes.
Through this program, a Fire Prevention Inspector will visit your residence to:
- Replace batteries in smoke detectors or carbon monoxide detectors if you are unable to do so
- Inspect detectors for proper operation
- Replace outdated or defective smoke detectors at no cost, if necessary
This service is free of charge to Ridgefield residents.
All batteries and replacement smoke detectors are supplied by the Fire Prevention Bureau.

If you have questions about the Smoke Detector Program or any other fire safety concerns,
please contact the Fire Prevention Bureau Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
The Bureau also offers:
- Fire safety brochures for residents
- Fire safety training upon request
