About Us

Borough of Ridgefield

The Borough of Ridgefield is a welcoming suburban community located in northeastern New Jersey within Bergen County. Covering approximately 2.6 square miles, Ridgefield offers residents a close-knit neighborhood atmosphere with convenient access to regional transportation, employment centers, and cultural amenities.

Ridgefield is traditionally recognized as having three distinct sections shaped by the Borough’s natural topography. The central section, known as Ridgefield, includes areas in the valley and along the first hill. Morsemere, located in the northern portion of the Borough, was named in honor of Samuel F. B. Morse—inventor of the telegraph and Morse Code—who owned extensive property in the area during the mid-1800s. Ridgefield Heights occupies the second hill along the eastern edge of the Borough, extending north to south.

With a strong sense of civic pride, Ridgefield blends its rich history with a commitment to responsive local government and a high quality of life for residents of all ages.
