About the Health Department
The Health Department has been providing public health services to the residents
of Ridgefield since the 1900’s. Our goal is to coordinate and assure the
preservation, protection, and promotion of good health, well-being, and quality
of life for all residents of our community.
We work toward this goal by:
Monitoring health status to identify community health problems
Diagnosing and investigating health problems and health hazards
Informing, educating, and empowering people about health issues
Mobilizing community partnerships to identify and solve health problems
Developing policies and plans that support health efforts
Enforcing laws and regulations that protect health and ensure safety
Linking people to needed health services and preventive care
Assuring a competent public health workforce
The Ridgefield Board of Health’s services are designed to motivate residents
toward behavioral change through health promotion, early identification,
disease prevention, and general health maintenance.
One of the Board of Health’s most important functions is promoting health and
preventing illness among infants and preschool-aged children—establishing
healthy habits that last a lifetime.
