Yongki Colin Ryu has been a resident of Ridgefield for over 15 years with his wife, Mee Ok, who works as a senior designer. They have two children, Kenneth and Katherine, who have attended the Ridgefield school system.
Colin received a doctor of chiropractic degree and was awarded the International Presidential Scholarship. Upon completing his DC program, he entered Masters of Science in the Clinical Research Program and was awarded the K30 scholarship from the National Institutes of Health. He was the principal investigator to conduct several research studies. In addition, Colin is a 5thdan black belt in Kendo which is a modern martial improves mental and physical health.
Since living in Ridgefield, Colin has participated in multiple volunteer services, such as a volunteer youth soccer coach, a member of the Ridgefield Recreation & Parks Commission, and a Ridgefield Board of Education Trustee. He likes to teach children in Ridgefield how to develop their bodies, minds, and disciplines through sports and martial arts. Colin is currently a head instructor at Ridgefield Kendo Club.
On January 7th, 2023, Colin was sworn in as a Councilman following the resignation of former Councilman Ray Penabad. He has been working as a member of multiple committees including Finance and Administration, Health and Welfare, Fire Department and Ambulance Corps., Elections, and Board of Education.
