Term expires December 31, 2022 Hugo Jimenez is a resident of Ridgefield for over 27 years. He has been married to his wife, Nancy, for over 39 years and they have two daughters, Barbara and Daisy, both of whom have gone through the Ridgefield school system and graduated from Ridgefield Memorial High School. They have three grandchildren, Chris (11), Nicholas (6) and Mabel (5). After graduating from high school, Hugo joined the US Navy and served from 1981 to 1986. While in the Navy he attended Hospital Corpsmen training and was also trained as a Medical Laboratory Technician. His last duty station was the Naval Submarine Base in Groton, CT. He has a Bachelor’s of Science in chemistry from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Master’s of Science in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix. He has worked in several area hospitals, most currently as an IT Senior Project Manager in the Information Technology Department at ACM Global Laboratories. He is also an adjunct professor at Bergen Community College. Hugo has served Ridgefield in many volunteer positions, such as a coach and Council member for the RBAO, the Mayor’s liaison to the Light Rail project, alternate member to the Meadowlands Commission. and former-President of the Ridgefield Democratic Club. He also served as a member of the Planning Board as Chairman and Council member. He is a member of the American Legion Ridgefield Post #221 and served in various positions as Service Officer, Adjutant and Vice-Commander. Hugo was sworn in as a Councilman in January 2011 by Senator Robert Menendez. He has since 2011 been the Chairman of the Finance and Health Committees. He also sits on the Police and Parks and Recreation Committee. He had served on the Fire and Ambulance, DPW and Library committees. He along with the other members of the Finance committee have tried to stabilize tax rates after years of double-digit tax increases by the prior Avery Republicans administration. Since 2017, the average tax increase in Ridgefield has been 35$/year. He has stabilized taxes while still maintaining town services. On January 7th, 2023 he was sworn in for his 4th term as a Councilman. On, March 22nd 2023, he was sworn in as Mayor following the resignation of former Mayor Anthony Suarez after Mayor Suarez was confirmed to be a judge in Bergen County Superior Court.
