Ridgefield Fire Department

The Ridgefield Fire Department was founded on January 30, 1895. Its first piece of equipment was a hand-made hose cart. Today, this department operates a 93-foot tower ladder, one heavy rescue truck, four engines, Zodiac boat, Boston Whaler boat, 2200 gallon water tender, a communications truck as well as three Chief’s vehicles.

Keeping current with the ever-changing trends of fire department responsibilities, the members can respond to and handle any situation. Our membership is comprised of people of all ages and career backgrounds. Responsibilities of this department include: fire suppression, motor vehicle accidents, carbon monoxide emergencies, supplying mutual aid to other communities, and many more non-emergency situations to assist the residents of Ridgefield.
